Employment Mentoring Day was a HUGE success!
We had eight students from the WSHS Education for Employment class attend the Fairfax County Employment Mentoring Day at the Government Center. They explored job sites like Channel 16 TV Station, the Employee Fitness and Wellness Center, and the Office of Public Affairs, got to see a police car up close, and participated in a career showcase to network with Fairfax County Employees.
Students from various FCPS high schools joined in to learn about local government opportunities. One of the presenters shared information about the John Hudson Internship program for college students.
The feedback from our students was overwhelmingly positive. Rebecca Cousins, our Employment and Transition Representative, noted how much fun and engaging the day was for everyone. Many students walked away with valuable contacts for jobs and volunteer opportunities.
A big thank you to Career and Transition Services, especially Sue Eaton, and to the Fairfax County Government for organizing such a wonderful event for FCPS students.
