There are only a few things you really need to bring on test day and a lot of things you'll be better off leaving at home. Prepare to bring the right things with this list:

• Your fully charged testing device with the Bluebook™ application installed and exam setup completed (see detailed device requirements).
  • Please note that all FCPS Chromebooks already have Bluebook installed. It can be accessed by logging out of your Chromebook and clicking the "Apps" button in the lower left corner of the sign in screen.
• Your up-to-date admission ticket from the Bluebook app. Bringing a printed ticket is preferred, and you can access the ticket after completing exam setup (available starting 5 days before the test).
• Acceptable photo ID.
• Pencils or pens for scratch work.
• Your College Board username and password.
  • Proctors and test-site staff will NOT be able to obtain this for you or help you reset your password.
• An acceptable calculator for use on the Math section of the test (there will be an embedded graphing calculator available to use within Bluebook).
• Epinephrine auto-injectors (like EpiPens) are permitted without the need for accommodations. They must be placed in a clear bag and stored under the student's desk during testing. For policies on other medications and medical devices, contact Services for Students with Disabilities.

You may also bring the following (but they are not required): 

• A watch without an audible alarm. (The Bluebook application has a built-in timer that tells you exactly how much time you have left, but you might still want to time your break.)
• A charging cable or portable charger.
• A bag or backpack.
• A drink or snacks (for your break).
• A backup testing device.

The following devices and aids aren't allowed in the test center:

• Mobile phones (which can be used to present the admission ticket, but after check-in must be collected or stored away from desks), smartwatches, fitness trackers, or other wearable technology (simple digital non-smartwatches or analog watches are acceptable)
• Audio players or recorders, notebooks, Bluetooth devices (such as wireless earbuds/headphones), or any other personal computing devices not used as the actual or backup testing device
• Separate timers of any type
• Cameras or any other photographic equipment
• Highlighters or colored pencils
• Books or references of any kind except as approved as an English language learner support for in-school administrations
• Compasses, rulers, protractors, or cutting devices
• Papers of any kind, including scratch paper
• Earplugs
• Unacceptable calculators that have computer-style (QWERTY) keyboards, use paper tape, make noise, or use a power cord
• Privacy screens
• Weapons or firearms

Penalties for Prohibited Devices

If your prohibited electronic device makes noise or you're seen accessing it at any time, including during breaks, you may be dismissed immediately, your scores can be canceled, and the device may be confiscated and its contents inspected.

The test administration staff is required to collect and hold phones and other prohibited electronic devices or to require students to place them in backpacks away from their desks during the test administration, including break periods, or to deny admission to anyone who has possession of a prohibited electronic device. College Board isn't responsible for loss of or damage to personal items, including electronic devices, while you're in the test center.

Doors Open at 7:45 a.m.

Arrive on time on test day. Be sure to check your admission ticket for your arrival time and the address of your test center. Test centers open at 7:45 a.m. and doors close at 8 a.m. unless otherwise noted on your admission ticket. You can't be admitted once testing has started. If you're late or absent on test day, you'll need to register again, and the standard testing fees will apply.

If approved to borrow a device from College Board, you'll need to arrive 30 minutes early on test day to sign in and complete exam setup. You'll get an admission ticket once this exam setup is complete.

Make sure you show up with everything you need.

Testing Starts Between 8:15 and 8:45 a.m.

Your proctor will begin check-in. Your seat is assigned, not chosen by you. Wait to be seated. Here's what will happen next:

• You'll log into the center's Wi-Fi and open the Bluebook™ application, which will guide you through instructions.
• The proctor can answer questions only about procedure, not about test questions or content.
• The proctor will give you a start code. Once you enter the start code, testing will begin, and Bluebook will keep track of the time you have remaining in each test section.
• Each student is timed individually, so you'll take breaks and complete testing at slightly different times.
• Each section of the test (Reading and Writing and Math) has 2 parts called modules, and each module is timed separately.
• You can move back and forth between questions in a module and review your answers until time expires.
• Once you've moved on from a module, you cannot go back to it.
• When the test is over, your answers are submitted automatically.
• If your submission fails for any reason, don't worry! Your answers will be saved to your device, and you'll have time to resubmit. You'll need to resubmit by the end of the following day.

Breaks

Students will have one 10-minute break during the test between test sections. You can take an unscheduled break if you need to, but you'll lose testing time.

• Leave your device open; don't close your device.
• Keep your ID with you at all times. It will be checked every time you enter the testing room.
• If you brought a calculator, it must remain on your desk during breaks.

Dismissal

You'll likely be done before noon, unless testing with extended time. When the test is over, your answers will be submitted automatically. If your submission fails for any reason, you'll have time after the test to complete your submission—all your work will be saved to your device. You must resubmit by the end of the following day.

After the test, your proctor will collect your scratch paper, return any items of yours, and dismiss you silently because other students in your room may still be testing.

Students can bring water & a small snack to be consumed during breaks.
