WSHS Testing Dates

WIDA Testing

WIDA is an annual exam that measures progress in English proficiency for students who are designated as English Learners. This year, testing will take place on the following days: 

  • Monday, February 12th: Reading and Listening
  • Tuesday, February 13th: Writing
  • Wednesday, February 14th: Speaking

Students will need to bring their FCPS Chromebook with them to the test each day. 

AP Exams: All students taking AP courses

AP Exams: all students taking AP courses

  • May 6 – May 17; The exam schedule can be found on the 2024 AP Exam Dates calendar on College Board.

  • AP Exams will be in-person.
  • Most AP Exams will be taken via paper and pencil. However, several AP Exams are now offered in a digital format, and students will need to use their school-issued Chromebook to take the test. These tests are AP English: Literature and Composition, AP English: Language and Composition, AP World History: Modern, AP US History. 
  • Students taking AP Spanish Language, AP German Language, and AP French Language will also need to bring their school-issued Chromebook to testing to complete the Speaking portion of the exam. 

Non-Writing SOL: all students in SOL classes

  • Earth Science (Geosystems) SOL: Wednesday, May 1st
  • Chemistry SOL: Thursday, May 16th
  • Geometry SOL: Monday, May 20th
  • Algebra 1 SOL: Tuesday, May 21st
  • Algebra 2 SOL: Tuesday, May 21st
  • Biology SOL: Wednesday, May 22nd
  • English: Reading SOL: Thursday, May 23rd

Exact testing times and locations will be sent to students in the Spring of 2024. 

Note: not all students may need to take the SOL corresponding to their current class. It will depend on their previous testing history. 

SAT School Day and PSAT/NMSQT: Students in grades 10, 11, and 12

SAT and PSAT/NMSQT: students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades: 

  • October 11th (with 2 hour early release)
  • All 10th and 11th grade students will take the PSAT/NMSQT. For more information about the new Digital PSAT, visit the PSAT/NMSQT page on the College Board website. 
  • Students in 12th grade will have the opportunity to take the SAT. Registration information can be found on the Class of 2024 Schoology page, and must be submitted by September 6th.
    • On this date, the SAT will only be offered via paper/pencil. For more information about the SAT, visit the SAT page on the College Board website
