Leisure/Post-Apocalyptic Trends

Female Clothing

The early 2000s birthed the Juicy Couture tracksuits that were seen on almost all young female celebrities during the time. The most symbolic article of clothing ever to exist; the fuzzy pink tracksuit was one of those trends that was easy and comfortable, but that is hilarious to look back on. Along with this wave of leisure wear came low-rise yoga pants; halter, tank, and crop tops; belts, and new patterns such as paisley and camouflage; ballet flats, high-heels, and converse sneakers. Girls wore an array of comfortable clothes and were seen in jeans or yoga pants along with t-shirts very often. There were some instances where excessive layering of accessories accompanied these looks, but as a whole, leisure was a major part of the experience.

Female Hairstyles

Young women had wavy, curly, crimped, and often straight hairstyles to accommodate updos. Women during this time were less conformist with their hair and instead experimented more comfortably.

Male Clothing

Young men were seen on the hip hop front wearing jeans, oversized baggy t-shirts, and backwards hats paired with expensive shoes such as Air Jordans. Retro clothing was also common among young men. Football team t-shirts with cargo pants or jeans could also be a common go-to look. Teenage boys admired shell necklaces and bracelets, which were a popular fad that exemplified the carefree and beachy look of the time.

Gelled bleach blonde tips made their way into being the new craze, which accompanied the beach-boy look well. Gel was being used heavily during this time period and it made medium-length hair more doable.
